Carrie Black | Mezzo-Soprano

CARRIE BLACK, mezzo-soprano, graduated high school in 2002 from the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities with a specialization in Piano Performance and Humanities. She attended Samford Univeristy and graduated in 2006 with a degree in Piano Performance.  Carrie sang with the SCGSAH Chamber Choir, Samford A Cappella Choir and was a staff singer for EWTN. A founding member of Highland Consort, Carrie also has the pleasure of singing with many of her colleagues in the Choir of the Cathedral Church of the Advent.

Growing up in a home that supported and thrived in the arts encouraged Carrie at a young age to pursue music as a passion as well as a career.  She has since slowed her full-time pedagogy studio to focus on raising her daughter, Eleanor, while continuing a few lessons on the side.  She greatly looks forward to the time when she can begin her love of teaching with the fullest devotion.  Above all, she is thankful for the ability to make music with a different instrument, the voice, and the opportunity it has given her to expose others to such rich and beautiful music.
